Unusual TLD Registry Rules

Under Consideration poundawebsite ltd 03/03/2024 - 08:24

Please accommodate fringe TLD cases:

1. Where there is a negative grace period (the domain has to be renewed before expiry).

2. Where some TLDs do not offer the option for 1-10 year pricing, For example where 1,3, 5 and 10 years are available but 2,4,6,7,8 and 9 year purchase or renewal is unavailable.

Thanks.

You are right.
Thats very important.
I would expand your request a little.
Also please import prices and periods matching corectly from registrar APIs.

For now it only imports the registration price bound to 1 year period, which is wrong for some domains only abailable for 2 years + minimum reg time.

Example:
Registration for example.tld cost 100$. TLD Metadata requires min registration period of 2 years.
The TLD will be imported but with default 1 - 10 years options. So you have to change it to the value matching the meta for this domain.

AND:
If you now set min registration 2 years, without price editing the system will charge 2x 100$ instead of 100$, because the price which will be importet is yearly. No relations to the periods.

AND:
if you enable auto price updates in the registrar module, you have to edit the price every day because the module will auto correct it to the wrong amount per year.

Technically, if the min reg period is also requested from the APIs, it should be possible to convert this period into an integer for the amount of years (in case the api gives the information in months) and then before importing the price into th products, just divide the yearly price by the integer. Another plus is, the domain settings can be automated. Just use the same integer for Min period and also request in the api another integer for the max reg period.

Like this, domain services would be almost 100% automated ;)
